My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

I haven't been able to get Feist's Brandy Alexander out of my head for the past 24 hours. So much so, the urge to try a Brandy Alexander forced me to Water Works this afternoon after class.

Very excited as I thought, "if this drink is good enough for John Lennon to binge on it HAS to be good." I mean, c'mon.. the man referred to it as his "milkshake."

Unfortunately, Water Works does not have a large selection of brandy so I went with cognac (Courvoisier, to be exact). Mistake #1.

Since I live on the internets, when I ordered the drink I was expecting to receive what I had wikipedia'ed the night before. Mistake #2.

1 1/2 oz Brandy
1 oz Dark Crème de Cacao
1 oz Half-and-half or Heavy cream
1/4 tsp grated Nutmeg

I would have been happy sans nutmeg and even OK with the fact it was served in an old fashion glass as opposed to a cocktail glass, but when the bartender explained that the drink was basically brandy and milk (or my case cognac), my taste buds were slightly bummed out. A simple splash of light creme de cacao and a few shakes later, I was hardly enjoying my long awaited "Brandy Alexander."

Luckily my bestfriend was just hired as a bartender at Water Works so next time she's working we're going to re do the whole experience.

Oh Brandy Alexander, you won't get me into trouble yet.

(Although I DO have a test for which I am not currently studying.. but that's a whole other post)
